Overcoming Your Inner Critic

Can I ask you:

Would you like to be able to do things in your life, without the little voice pipping up? Have you let that little voice hold them back from something that they have wanted to do? We hold ourselves back from doing things. We feel that we may not be good enough. We feel invisible.

It is the negative chatter that is constantly going on inside our heads and it is a real problem. Sadly it is estimated that about 75% of the chatter that goes on in our head is negative. It stops us in our tracks, holds us back, makes us second guess ourselves, talk to ourselves out of things.

But we have to ask ourselves, if you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be a friend?

The good news is:

When you are able to recognise that inner critic when she pops up, assess the validity of her claims and silence her. A great activity to try is to write down some of the negative phrases that you have thrown around in your mind before.

Do you consider them an accurate description of you as a person? Do they accurately describe the behaviour? For those that the answer is no, cross them out.

When you see them in writing, does that make them seem untrue or trivial?

I hope that this simple to implement method can help you overcome your inner critic. Each time you are able to win the battle over her you create a more confident version of you, leading you to the life you deserve to live.
